Miracle leaf!

I was about to toss this hoya pottsii leaf today (clearing out room for a nursery) when I found it had finally sprouted!

I lost the entire plant, except for this leaf, about a year and half ago due to over-watering. It was growing in a table-top greenhouse in a small pot and grew a ton of roots, but no sign of new plant growth. So a year and a half later, persistence paid off.

p.s. Nice to see familiar names here - I haven't been on this forum for about a year due to extreme business - marriage, book release and now pregnancy. Glad to know it's still active.

Yee-haw, Julia! You must have gotten a little stem tissue in with that. Awsome... I always toss broken-off leaves back into the pot "just in case"... Have yet, in over 25 years, to have one sprout new growth. Congrats!

Thanks. I didn't see any "stem material" when I planted it, but maybe there were a couple of cells there to build upon.

I think the table top green house helped (it does wonders with all my struggling hoyas) and also Superthrive.

But I think it all boiled down to the correct alignment of stars, lol.

Julia, I had a multiflora leaf sprout so I know what your feeling, it's such a surprise. I guess Denise is right that maybe we got a little stem DNA with the leaf but I also didn't see any stem on mine, I have several more rooted leaves and they will now always have a home with me in hopes that someday..........
