Is that the secret? They are more fragrant at night? Because I've only tried smelling them at a plant vendor at a flower show, which was during the day, and I really didn't smell anything. I'm going to try growing it again anyway. The fact that it is related to hoyas makes it more appealing also.

Well I don't know, if you put your nose 2" from my steph you would definitely smell it - but at night you can just stand in the room and smell it - I dont know why that is with flowers ???

This is my Stephanotis that I bought in Feb.'09. It's now in a 14" Azalea pot, it was in an 8" nursery pot when I bought it, so it has grown. We had a brutal winter here in FL...temps reached the low 20's several days in a row. I had this one under some oak trees, it was too heavy and awkward to take inside so I covered it with some old heavy drapes. I thought it I had lost it...but remarkably enough it survived and recovered. Hopefully the dry and COLD winter we had will trigger some blooms in the next several weeks. I've only had 2 blooms on this plant and that was last year in July. Will post pictures if I see blooms. I've moved it since it wasn't getting any sun where I had it and read they like a little sun.

This is pretty much the directions I follow and it has worked pretty good. Put in a cool spot during winter - which it sounds like you did - lol. keep it fairly dry. Then in spring - cut it back and fertilize.... i used african violet fertilizer.

By the way your plant looks very lush and healthy!

That is a really pretty plant! You enablers!!

Thanks for the tips and nice comments golden, and if this winter doesn't make it bloom, nothing will :o)

Thanks tigerdawn, we are really bad aren't we?

BTW golden, you are so right about this one looking similar to Hoya australis, I def. think so too. Since I lost my australis to cold damage(which I've decided not replace) this will take its place as well.
