WRF, that is a very HARD question? You are asking for the impossible, LOL. For me any Hoya that has thick, plump, leaves that's heavily "Flecks" with silver I think? Speckled Carnosa,RHP, Pink Silver, Speckled Obovata...Oops, Oh you said ONLY ONE...sorry about that.

Can't live without a Hoya lacunosa....beautiful leaves, multitude of flowers that smell heavenly!

I figure if I find out everyone's favorite, then I can buy them all and at least cut down on my obession by only having to but those one! lol I think we have the same taste in hoyas so far...I also like the ones with thicker leaves and speckles!

Hoyasinlove, that was my first one to bloom and the one that started this obession, lol! Even though, it's leaves are not thicker or speckled, the beauty of the overall plant and the lush way it grows, along with it's constant blooming makes it one of my favs too so far.

This is a tough question because I like them all pretty much. You just gonna have to buy them all just like us.LOL
I like caudata, callistophyla, merrilii, speckled obovata, signaliis(bad spell) pubycalix pink silver, and other pubycalix for the gorgeous leaves. Lacunosa, pubycalix PS, nummularia, cumingiana, pachyclada, subcalva for the fragrance.

I just got started in hoyas so any one that would be called hugehoyabloomsalotsmellsgreatflora, or something like that. lol.

My mostest, bestest, favorite is caudata. I just love the leaves. I haven't had flowers yet, but I don't care. The leaves almost makeup for flowers. Second most would be any of the pubicalyx with their silvefr splashed leaves.

I think someone asked this before, maybe last year, and in protest due to the impossibility of narrowing it down to one, everyone listed three.
I really can't even narrow it down to that many!

My fav's have to be caudata, kerrii (shape and succulent leaves), motoskei. I know ther are other's I love that I'm forgetting.

Just when I think I've got a definitive favorite, I find another that challenges the last one. I've gone a little nuts for the ones with distinct veins, like callistrophylla. I love the large leaved ones. Probably one that will always be at the top of my list is macrophylla for it's big, beautiful, almost black new leaves.

And then you have to consider the different ways to ask the question. What's your favorite for leaves? (a: macrophylla)... Flowers? (a: australis so far)... Frequency of flowering? (a: lacunosa)... Fragrance? (a: definitely pubicalyx 'Pink Silver')

I really like Hoya shepherdii, but it doesn't like me too much, the smell of roses when it blooms yum! It didn't quite do too well this last winter. I really like obovata and kerrii just because of ease of keeping and their forgiving natures. Of course I like the Krimson sisters. I used to hate variegated plants, and yellow flowers now they are growing on me.

My real favorite is a little NOID I have though. It has raised veins on small thick leaves, can't beat that!

I would love to get a Hoya linearis, because it looks like a Rhipsalis, and curtisii, Eddie sent me one and I was in love, too bad it turned yellow. I am hoping the stems survive and bounce back.

Could your NOID be pallida? I just got that one this spring from Gardino's and I fell in love with it for its raised veins, too. Here's a photo...

I think that was one of the names I got, the other being verticillata. I labeled it 'verticillata?' and will see what happens when it blooms. I'll put pallida on the tag also, just in case.

this is easy for me, my first and only always is the h.hindu rope..this one was my first and I always have to have one and now infact I have 3..I love the way the leaves wrap arround the vine..I have never seen the flower but thats ok I grow it for the ropes...linda

Linda, here is the rope flowers, variegated ones are darker.

Obscura has the best fragrance to me, blooms often and gets those nicely colored leaves in full sun.

But I think carnosa Krimson Princess is so widely available for good reasons. And I'm with Linda--compacta was my first one, too, and will always be special to me. Oh! And I love shepherdii leaves. I'm hitting "submit" before I keep going....

That's the same one (pallida, verticillata) that Carol and another collector/grower (Ricnfl - ebay id) sell as amoena. I'm leaning towards that as the real name. I just received mine from Gardino's as well and just love it!

As for other favorites - bella, buotti which has been growing like gangbusters, lacunosa, thomsonii.....I think we should break it down as Denise said or have top 10!

The description for H amoena from the Hawaiian grower is:

This was previously H. verticillata from Bogor. Then it was H. acuta. Now David Liddle believes it to be H. amoena. Whatever it is, it is part of that very confused H. verticillata/H. acuta mess. I do know that it is very easy to grow, has gorgeous leaves....

Whatever it's name it's still my favorite Hoya.

H. polystachia or H. compacta. Big toss up between the two. Both for foliage reasons.

I love Hoya Chelsea because of the heart shaped leaves.

Hoya Pubicalyx RHP, Super Splash. Such a vigorous grower, beautiful when not blooming and the blooms vary in color a lot depending on where they are on the plant and where the sun hits them.

But then... What would I do without my Mindorensis or Erythrostemma types :'(

My dream hoya is A.Lisa,and villosa w/short leaves.I don't know if I spelled it correctly but I think you know what I mean lol

I'm a sucker for large and dark flowers, so something like macgillivrayi. For foliage, it'd probably be something like curtisii or meredithii.

My top three right now. But it changes every so often.

Gigas (gorgeous, atypical eriostemma leaf shape, not sure if I will still love it when it blooms, as the flowers are said to smell bad, like stapeliads)

Hamiltoniorum (an eriostemma hoya with dark leaves that have small silver splashes!)

Undulata (the leaves themselves are jaw-droppingly gorgeous!)

Lithophytica (speaking of which, I need more of this, Ric, to fill the pot! It's so small, I need fillers!)

Any imperialis (gorgeous leaves and big flowers....what's not to love?)

Coronaria (white with pink corona is my favorite coronaria, for now, until the others bloom)

Patella (I adore the fuzzy leaves and big flowers, in comparison to leaf size)

cv. Michelle (again, gorgeous leaves)

cv. Annakey (or any erythrina; the leaves are very nice, and the flowers are gorgeous!)
