Hummingbird Garden

Hello all,

Tammy here from NC. I am new to this forum! It's January and cold but I am planning spring/summer gardening. I have been feeding hummers via sugar water feeders for a few years now and want to step it up a notch with plants. I am a rose grower by passion but love all kinds of gardening. I need some hummer plant advice. I started planting salvia last summer, and I have a beautiful huge reddish orange honeysuckle (the name escapes me at the moment). But what else can I plant to attract these flying wonder? I read somewhere in this forum I think that cleome is good....I have tons of that...any color in particular?

Tammy, there's quite a few plants to grow for hummers. Copying just some from Nancy Newfield plant list: Coral Honysuckle-Lonicera sempervirens, Salvia coccinea, salvia Mexicana,
Trumpet Creeper-Campsis radicans, Red Morning Glory-Ipomoea coccinea, Hamelia patens, Mexican Cigar-Cuphea ignea 'David Verity', Pentas, Cypres Vine, Japanese Honeysucle. Once you start it's hard not to want to plant more!
