Greetings all --

I frequently see Antirrhinum / Snapdragons mentioned as good hummer annuals. Does anyone feel that there is a difference (to the hummers, of course) between the older 'heirloom' varieties like Black Prince and Malmaison and the modern hybrids?

I've got a hill I'm planting mainly in perennial / reseeding annual regional and US natives, but I'm open to a few non-natives if they're important to hummers and butterflies. Since I intend for them to reseed, I want to use non-hybrid varieties like those I mentioned above.

So what's the verdict? Do I break with the native theme and use old time snaps or not? Any opinions?
