Leslie any of the southwestern sages (salvias) or agastaches would be great. One of my altime favorites is Salvia guaranitica Black & Blue with the deep cobalt blue flowers. It was one of the very first hummer specific plants that I added to my garden and one that I make sure I have every year. Not sure if the regulations have been relaxed about bringing in or taking plants out of AZ but you might have to check on that before you buy plants to bring back to Nebraska. When I lived there we couldn't bring anything in or take anything out as it was confiscated at the border. I know that most online garden centers still do not ship to AZ.

Honeysuckle which should be available most any day now locally. Coral Honeysuckle is probably leafing out in your area now and bloom buds follow almost as soon as it starts to leaf out. Mine is just now starting to leaf out here in NY so it will be a couple of weeks at least before blooms start to develop. This plant would be a perennial for you and will come back bigger and better each year without being invasive like the japanese honeysuckle
