Take a look at this link to first sightings of hummingbirds in the United States and Canada. Judging from past years, it looks like the first hummingbirds will be arriving in southeastern Georgia some time in the middle of this month (March 15th or so). Please remember, though, this means the FIRST birds. The migration is somewhat drawn out, so in your own southeastern GA yard, you might not see your first birds before the beginning of April, or even a bit later. The males typically arrive first, followed by the females in the following weeks.

You could put up your feeder now, as they might be appearing in your yard any day now. Just be sure to change the sugar water every few days so that it stays fresh and healthy. You don't want it to ferment and get cloudy--a possible health hazard for the birds, or at very least, a turnoff.

If you look at the 2007 migration map you will see there are already 3 confirmations in GA.

And I bet I have them at my house and have just not had the time to catch them feeding. I have had feeders up all winter and added another one today.

I do hope to send some time outside tomorrow and keep an eye open for one of the little beauties. I saw my first one on March 12 last year.

Then too , there are window feeders that have suction cups to attach so you have a better chance of catching them when you cant be outside , such as working in the kitchen or in your computer room.
