My fungii has not flowered yet, so I can't comment on that, but on a Dischidia hybrid I grow (vidalii x sp Camiguin Island) every single peduncle is double-headed like this for some reason.

Nice Dischidia, GT. Where did you get it? I like the red buds. I have a new one I got this summer that I'm trying to grow mounted and right now, it seems to be working out ok - ok enough that it's budding up:

Got it in a trade and it came as cleistantha, though it may be a hybrid of that species.

From Jan Sword. I got 18 different cuttings from her this summer, and then another 4 new ones - you know, because 18 is just such a low number. :-)

The Dischidia cutting came loaded with peduncles and buds, and the buds all dropped, unfortunately, but this first flowering is just 6 weeks from planting the cutting. It's obviously in a hurry, which is just fine by me! It's my first Dischidia that forms bullate leaves - I was looking for one like that and am very excited about hopefully my plant forming them once it matures a bit more.

I googled Dischidia cleistantha, and it looks very interesting as well. Those "ant-harboring" type leaves, like hoyas imbricata or maxima, are on my wish list. And the creeping growth habit is very cool and unusual, exotic even. Do you grow in on a mount? Or if in a pot, are you somehow giving it flat'ish surface otherwise for leaves to cling to?

Coming back to double-header peduncles, I just remembered seeing pics of Hoya macrophylla, which (or maybe some variations of which) form insane number of peduncles very close to each other. See this, for example: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/hoya/msg0508401317125.html (Mike's picture a few screens down). Or this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/cetsky/179074574/.

Yes, some of the photos in that post are mine, so I know how prolific macrophylla is with peduncles. I don't think I've seen any on mac, though, that had two "heads" on one peduncle. It's interesting - like when a leaf occasionally splits and looks like it tried to form 2 leaves on one stem.

Like this? Just today I snapped this pic of 'Jennifer' doing this. It's growing, but it's gonna be a strange thing when it matures, I imagine.

Hey guys! My Hoya polystacheya had 7 heads on a peduncle. Hoya surriagansis have multiple heads as well.

Sorry, I can't find a photo of 7 heads.

Hoya surriagansis.
