Well, they are coming through down here like crazy. I don't recall seeing so many this early. Yes, I've seen them even earlier, but not in the numbers that I'm seeing them this year.

I am 40 miles west of Indy and have had 2 feeders out for about 3 weeks. Tonight I thought I seen a hummer at one feeder but it was just a moth :-(

We don't seem to get them until the first week of may, however that is not to say one has not passed though.

Well, I have 6 medium size feeders out and 5 small feeders out right now. They are going through the solution pretty fast. And I have about 12 feeding out back, equal numbers of males and females. All RT's.

Linda, I to have more this year than any previous year. Im surprised at so many this early. Both Black Chinned and Ruby Throated. My season doesn't usually peak with hummers
until June and July.

Tonight I cleaned and refilled my feeders. This time complety full. I had been just filling them with two cups of sugar water, but they nearly emptied them in three days, so my feeders are full tonight.

Linda, I'm surpprised RTs are all you have, you being on the coast.

I have three, maybe four females to males. Havent seen any male RTs just RT females, and BC females and males. Nearly all the females here have fat tummies, and I assume are building nests in the Mesquites near by.

I saw a male RT at my window feeder this morning. I usually don't see them until about Mothers Day. I am in St Louis County which I guess is about the same latitude as Indianapolis. I did not see one the rest of the day although I know they have been reported in St Louis for almost 2 weeks.

Wow all these sighting reports are making me even more antsy but nothing is going to happen here very soon. We have a freeze warning for tonight and maybe tomorrow night. Didnt even get out of the 50s here today. Should see one within the next couple of weeks though.

I'm a new member but I am very excited to hear hummers have been sighted here. I tried to tell my daughter that I'd seen two males fighting and she was convinced it was too early. Thank you!
