Well that is good news and he is a handsome fellow with his bright red neck and that touch of pollen on his head. It would be nice to have an early one thats for sure. My earliest ever was last year on 4-23.

I went back into the archives and you reported your first last year on the 3rd just one day later than this year. Mine arrived exactly 20 days later so accordlingly I should see one on or about 4-22,, but It would nice to have an early surprise.

I'm not trying to split hairs with you, but I looked at last year's first arrival post. It was posted on Apr 3, but in it I said that the little fellow "showed up yesterday afternoon", or the 2nd - the same as this year. I hope the extra day of waiting doesn't bum you out...

I got curious about the previous years, so I looked them up. Here they are...

2010 - Apr 5
2009 - Apr 4
2008 - Apr 6

So for the past 5 years, they've arrived within a 5-day window. It's amazing how punctual they are!! If only the Post Office could be as good...

Lucky you ctnchpr; what a beauty. How did you manage to capture the photo?

I have been busy all winter starting flowers from seed as well as filling the garden with saliva's. I have my fingers crossed for some real hummer activity this year.

hummersteve, There was a surge in activity today. At dusk, I counted 12 at 3 of 6 feeders - most of them were males. Just thought you'd like to know.
