Unfortunately, that's what most heliconia leaves look like. My heliconia rostrata has awful looking leaves. The wind just shreds them, but if I put them close to the house where the wind won't get them, they don't bloom.

Fabio, could it have been nipped by a cool, windy day? Overall it looks like a healthy plant to me. My heliconias always look better in the warm months. It looks like it's going to put out more leaves, so hang in there. Next spring that thing will be growing like gangbusters and beautiful.

I wouldn't be concerned with it, if you are just starting it and just removed it from another plant. Just looks like some manhandling damage and maybe a lack of water during that time. I can see a bit of leafroller damage. That's the holes at the top of the leaf, the caterpillar got it before the leaf unfurled.

Once it gets established, it should be ok.

The top picture looks like cold damage. I have 100's of them in my yard and they look great until the first cold front that gets down in the 40's. I let them go brown and then cut them down to the ground in mid January. By May they are all beautiful again.

I would agree with the others. Wait until the heat returns lol. I keep some in my shadehouse where the temps stay above 40 year around and the difference is like night and day compared to those grown in the yard.
They love the heat and humidity for sure and like all big leaf plants are wind damaged easily.
I can't ever remember losing any to the temps but they sure look ratty during winter.lol
