That's great news, Tami!! I knew they'd find you in the woods! If you have a lot of Tulip Poplar trees, you may not see your hummers much while the trees are blooming, except on rainy days.

That's good to know about the tulip poplars. I do have a few of those in my woods so hopefully after they are done blooming I will see even more activiy. I went out & bought 2 more hanging baskets of fuschia.
I also bought my annuals today, keeping in mind the likes & needs of the hummers. A lot of red impatiens. Also got snapdragons & sage.

This morning I was watching a chipmunk climb my back tree when I saw my first hummer of the season exploring some purple flowers under the tree. I think I also saw him at the oriole feeder(I fill it with plain water to add weight), but he did not see the small hummer feeder hanging under the tree. I just cut some strips from an old red t-shirt and I'll try tying them to the hummer feeder. Maybe that will help get his attention.

This afternoon I tied some bright red six-inch ribbons to the perches of the mini hummingbird feeder and also to a metal stake a few feet away. While eating supper a few minutes ago a male and female ruby-throated hummer flew in to drink from the feeder. I'm thrilled.

Note to self: Go to craft store & buy enough ribbon to wrap my house in it!! If a little is good, more is better right? LOL!
