Hummingbird Garden

No sightings in B-LO

The Ruby throats have been spotted here in the Buffalo, NY area on the migration map, but I have not seen one yet and neither have my FB friends that live in the southern tier Alleghany region and even Pittsburg. There are usually lots of them at Rushford Lake. It is very strange for us to not see them yet. Is it possible the drought last year affected their population? I am sad I haven't seen one. I always look forward to their arrival.

Don't fret :) I am sure they are there. You probably didn't see them because you aren't watching long enough. I have seen them in western PA. Theyare very secretiv when they first arrive.

lindalou, I just saw my first one yesterday too : ) Usually I have a bunch by now. I have other friends that haven't seen very many as well. I wonder if something decreased their population this year. I sure hope not. I look forward to them every year.
