I have a spot on the property that needs sheltering from a sketchy neighbor and I was wondering how fast a hedge of alternating butterfly bush and pineapple sage would grow to around 4 feet? My pineapple sage (which I've never grown before) has been puny and slow growing so far, but the butterfly bushes are at around 2 foot now. The planned spot is in an area that gets both early morning sun and then afternoon sun also (only shaded by some dogwoods for a few hours a day). My butterfly & hummingbird garden is kind of kitty corner to the spot so I'm hoping it will help attract some little friends to the garden if I have a mass of these together, and if I can also use them to shelter my kids play area from prying eyes all the better. But I need to have something fast growing so that by late spring (Late May/June) they are fairly well tall. If these wont work does anyone have other ideas? I could use some kind of evergreen shrub I guess but I already have 6 BB and 12 pinapple sage growing in pots and these seem to have so much more value in a fluttering friendly garden like mine...

Anyone know, or grow these plants in Washington/Oregon, who can tell me more about their growth? Or suggest another plant that is fast growing and shrub like?
