I found that when I stopped using a cheap feeder and got a hummzinger (that you can clean in the dishwasher) it solved all my cleaning needs. Also, because the ports are red, I don't have to worry about wasps. I use a 4:1 ratio and the birds come like crazy! I have at least six birds coming (all female I think)about every three minutes all day long. Also, I change the nectar every other day as mold will grow if you leave it more days than that (I live in HOT Humid weather!) - just rinse with hot water and allow to dry while you are making the nectar and then I use a paper towel to make sure it's clean.
