My first eggplants always do that. Usually, the first one or two, then they're o.k.

How often are you fertilizing them? Are they getting full afternoon sun? It could be sunburn.

Planted in Sept I fertilized once with 10-10-10 after the first month and have used the miracle grow liquid twice the past month and a half. Watering 3 times a week a good saturation but it is a raised bed which drains well. I wait for the soil to feel dry then water some times only twice. thanks

My eggplants never do good at this time of year. They prefer warm weather. If I keep mine alive thru the winter they usually start producing again as the days grow longer and the weather starts warming up.

It seems like they are doing well nice green plants with lots of blooms on each. I have 6 plants with one plant dropping 3 and 2 others are dropping 1,the other 3 look like they will set fruit soon also. It's the cracking of the skin that bothers me I like to cook them with some skin left on. Oh well not those first few.

I agree with sumala. Eggplants are one thing that does well in the summer, so it would stand to reason that they do not like cool weather. Mine now has two small fruits, but I moved it to a place where it gets lots of sunlight to keep it warm all day.

Eggplants can live up to three years down here, so keep it alive, and it will keep producing for you next year.
