Ikea had one I remember being reasonable. Check BJ's, Sam's or Costco. Garage sales.

Check thrift stores. I got mine there for $3.

I'll 2nd the thrift store suggestion - that's where I got mine as well - I think it was $2.50 = )

Hi Sharon

Salad spinners are not that expensive, look for sells at the stores. I have 2 different kinds, one that spins at the middle, I like them both because they keep the lettuce fresh. They last a long time if you take good care of them. The red one at the left I got it at Target and the green one I got it at Home Goods. Is really a good small investment for the salads.

Thanks everyone for the info. I will check around.

Here's a tip for keeping lettuce for at least 3 weeks. Use that spinner and get it good and dry. Then lay on paper towels laid out on your counter, roll up and put in a plastic bag with the air squeezed out. This will stay fresh and crisp - if you notice in a few days that the towels are sort of damp, replace.
I buy my lettuce at the farm stand, and while it is expensive, it is sooooooooooo good and I don't have to worry about it getting gushy.
That's all from this happy homemaker (lol).
