Congratulations! I could also have exclaimed "finally!" a little over two weeks ago when I saw my first at the bleeding hearts. That one was a male, and it was only a few days ago that I started seeing my first regular female.

I do think a lot of people get worked into a frenzy over those first bird reports. They get impatient and wonder why they aren't seeing any. By the time the litle birds come, it seems like they're terribly late, but they're really right on schedule.

I think what's happening now is that we're beginning to see the main wave of birds settling into zones 6 and 5. Sure, a few people saw them as early as mid April around here, but those were very early birds that were few and far between.

Congratulations again! My garden, too, is evolving in a way that I hope will be more hummingbird friendly. While you're enjoying your little hummer, I'm excited about "my" little female who is making regular visits to my humble little home made feeder. She is so cute. Looking at her is one of life's little pleasures, and I couldn't be happier!

I agree with Kristin, THey are finally settling in for the season. Have fun!
