Harry ~ The second one looks like a small cuphea I found last year, only it was named "Tiny Winnie." Really cute, although I have no idea if the hummies liked it, as the flowers are small. The entire plant didn't get very big, either... not over a foot, if that. Pretty sure it didn't overwinter.

I'd never had a cuphea before, and would like to have another, perhaps larger. Those little bat-face flowers are so cute and unusual.

Harry, I can't identify the blue salvia, but the red one is Proven Selections "Tiny Mice" from the Proven Winners brand line, a cuphea rosea. According to the tag, it can be grown in full or partial sun, gets 10-14" tall, and is very heat tolerant. I planted three in a window box today and the female barely waited for me to go inside and close the door before she inspected them. I can't say whether she actually sipped from them, but I hope so because I got them just for her.

Harry, the first one looks like one I have, Salvia greggii Navajo purple. Its in its 2nd year and its very floppy (even with a good haircut this spring) just like in your picture. The second is bat-face, which is just another name for Tiny Mice, which I've also seen listed in a nursery as Micky Mouse. LOL

Tiny Mice and Bat-faced cuphea are interrelated. I had batfaced cuphea last year and the hummers loved it.

The Salvia may be coahuilensis; it tends to trail, and has bright purple flowers. The Cuphea didn't seem attractive to the little guys for me, and it tended to dry out quickly, but the flowers are a treat to look at.
