Thanks rita. I'm not in Fla but thanks for letting me know that Texas Sage is a hummer plant. I didn't know.

Rob, since you're in Texas, I'm curious about this plant, Texas sage. I have come to favor this plant more and more -it seems to be really tough and hardy, even when we get below freezing here. I do prune it back to keep it in hand in the spring, not sure how big it would get if I didn't. It seems to only bloom heavily when there is a dramatic increase in humidity. But even when it isn't blooming I like the silvery leaves and the overall shape and texture of it. The hummers do like it, though, we have some right in front of our front porch and they willingly come close to get a sip of it.

Will hummers attract to red Crepe Myrtle trees? I posted about choosing a speciman tree in "Florida Gardening" and am narrowed down to three - Bottlebrush - which I know they like but havent found a decent speciman tree, Texas Olive - which I cannot readily find, and Crepe Myrtle - easily found around here and many beautiful ones. I am thinking 'Red Rocket' as a variety they would attract to.
