I bought it a few years ago, for me the hummers do not use it. Just tried it again last week. Hummers lookes at it and flew away. I did have a Yankee Droll window feeder before that that got a lot of use, but it had no ant moat and once the ants found it the hummers stopped using it.

I bought one two seasons ago. Nothing. I even moved a large butterfly bush so the hummers would be attracted to that area and have some protection. Zilch. My cheap $4 Walmart feeders still remain the best feeders. Disappointing, because I would really love to see some hummers hanging out at my window.

I have used the jewelbox. In fact I still have it but dont use it as its not used only rarely so its in mothballs. But if you would like to see a hummer use it check out this clip.

I have two -- I seldom look out the windows without seeing a hummer on one or the other. They even seem to share better at these feeders.

Our windows are tinted so we can get right up close to watch them. My grandkids are fascinated . . . and so is my Golden Retriever! He thinks he should be able to get them and I've had to really work on training him not to bark or bang his nose on the glass!

I really love the feeders from this manufacturer, including the jewel boxes!!

Glad they are working out for you hostgrams as it is a beautiful and a well made feeder. I just wish it worked here.

I have been looking for a feeder/feeders to stick on my window/windows. All my feeders are about 15 feet from the house except for one, it is hanging from the facia board about 6 feet down on a chain. This was the last feeder added and is not the preferred feeding station. Don't think I've had over 2 birds at a time on it and mostly only one. The birds have been warming up to it ever so slowly. I will check them out. The Jewelry Box feeder did not sound like something I would want (too fancy), but the pic looks like a great saucer feeder that sticks on your window. Do the suction cups hold well? I believe my birds think they have competition at the window because they see a reflection. I was looking back toward the house one day when I saw 2 deer in the window. JB feeder will work for me. HAVE YOU ever seen a hummers tongue? It is very long and goes all over a saucer feeder; well, maybe not to the other side. :):)

Suction cups hold very well in the shade, I never hung it on a window that is in the sun. Why not move the feeders closer to the house, either on a shepards hook, or one of those suction cup hangers that Walmart sells.

Racoons are a big problem! I would like to try something stuck on the windows. Thanks, I might look at the Wally World suction cups.

PaulDavid: Occasionally one of my jewel boxes will fall off the window -- no idea why! They're both in full sun. When it happens, I wash the suction cups AND the window and we're good to go again. The feeder on the window at my kitchen sink has been inside for a couple days and the hummers are obviously looking for it! Guess I'll have to go put it back up. There are 6 more feeders around, so they're not going hungry!

I put the Jewel box feeder up on a front window of my house for the migration activity and it is getting some use! I had feeders in the back and on both sides of the house all summer. I am guessing that it is the location and the fact that it is the only feeder in the front.

I have long ago given up on the so called window feeders and instead use these window extenders found at walmart. They will hold up to 5 lbs and will stay on the window. Ive been using these for about 3yrs now.

One thing I noticed with the Jewel Box is that it gets bacteria in it very easily,not only around the ports but also in the water. I can go 3-4 days before changing my other feeders and this one needs it after 2 and the hummer isn't using it from what I can see. My other window feeders can hang the 3-4 days as well.

I would doubt it is the feeder itself. It could be location. Is this feeder in direct sun where the others are in the shade? Could also be that there are spores present in the feeder from previous issue just rinsing does not get rid of them all. If so the feeder could benifit from a soaking in bleach. One part bleach to ten parts water completely submerged for a while. Then a good rinse and a good airdry.
