Yep...two weeks or less sounds about right.

I haven't had problems with bees at my feeders this year...but last year I ended up pouring older nectar into dishes and set them on the fence posts in the far corners of my yard to keep the bees at a distance.

I started storing water this year. In the past I had waited until I needed it then it had to cool down before I could use it. I make up about 2 qts at a time.

I mix two quarts at a time and dump it right into a feeder. I do occasionally mix up in advance and place in 'fridge, but doesn't stay there very long before I take it out and dump it into the next empty feeder!!

Gosh Alan, what great information. I was storing the nectar in water bottles in the fridg. Tricky though, husband drank one by mistake. Cleaning up sugar water for days lol.

Like Teriann I use water bottles - and yes, took a big gulp out of one by mistake thinking it was my water! Tasted just like a snow cone without the crushed ice :o) No wonder the hummies love the stuff!!!

I've got this season's hummie guzzling pretty much figured out and make enough to last a week.

I've been useing this system for years,and never had a problem, and I live in S Cal where the temps get pretty high,among other things. Right now I have Anna's, Allen's,and Black-chinned.
