Do you know if there are hummers in your area that spend the winter? I have heard that some do stay on the coast of Mississippi and Louisiana. Hope you get more birds.

I looked at a migration chart to see what kind of hummers come through here and when. I read you should leave a feeder out year round. Hard to do here when the temps are below freezing! Some varieties have only been spotted one or two times in one area. We have the Ruby red thoated ones here.

That hummingbird is still coming around. I saw him at about 6:30 am and again at 7:00 pm. I was at work most the day. He sarts to all three feeders that I have and then sometime rest but most of the time he takes off and goes back where he came from. 8/5/2011 milton,fl.

Been a few days since Ive seen my hummingbird. I guess he has started south.

I put up some of those red plastic cups that you buy and tied them to limbs on the tree. I had not seen any Hummingbirds for acouple of days. Today I saw two at the same time and then one for the rest of the day. It was a female and she tried all the feeders and then checked out all the flowers and set in the tree.

I still atracting a few but one is running the others off but it is fun watching them trying to get the upside down cups to give out necture.

The red cups must be doing a good job because I now have 6 or 7 running around my tree and many taking a hit on the cups only to find no nector but soon find the 5 feeders I have hung up.

Glad to hear you are now getting a few hummers. But I no nothing of hummer activity in florida but I would think that in certain parts of fl would have year round birds.

My hummer has been around here (Valrico)for at least a month. Seeing this little fellow is what motivated me to get back into the garden after a long hiatus. I wish I had noted the exact date.
