Happy July 1! My bee balm bloomed, and a male hummer showed up. Don't know where the female is.

I just added a last post to my message thread on Red Flowering currant about how my hummer doesn't taste any of my other flowers but my bee balm and Penstemon. She is very shy and I was complaining too. Mine won't touch a feeder either. I get so frustrated reading all these other posts about all the other birds who use feeders and all kinds of salvias etc. When I read this post I could feel your pain! I've only ever seen a female. I've never seen the male or more than one hummer at a time either. I get excited though every time I see my one female!

Have any of you all tried looking for them early in the morning (between 5 - 6 am) or late in the afternoon & at dusk (7 - 8 pm or later)? You may have more of them than you think, but you're missing them!

I thought I didn't have any and just the other day saw one sit at my feeder and feed for 5 full minutes at 8:30 pm. What a thrill!
