It will take a bit (maybe several days) for the hummer to find the new feeder. The nectar is supposed to be 4 parts water and 1 part sugar; no food coloring. Don't give up!

Food coloring is potentially harmfull to hummers. When they are in the area they will check out most anything that is red. Hang the feeder in an area where you saw it. This is the time of year hummers will start to work their way south so you should see some this month.

No food coloring in the feeder, just sugar/water 3 to 1 mix as suggested in a previous thread.It is right by my bee balm, where I first saw the hummer.I hope to see some soon, Steve!
