My winter set up

I like seeing peoples pictures so I thought I would show how I keep some of my plants alive during are dark and damp winters.

Cindy, that looks very neat. I bet your plants are 'feeling' very happy that you care for them.

I don't have to have 'winter set up' since there's no winter here. But I'd love to set up a place inside so that I can be 'close' to my plants all the time. However, my plants never seem to like staying indoors so I have to move them in-and-out, out-and-in all the time :-(.

    Thanks for sharing with us.

    Hey Cindy,
Love your set up. My set up is the same year round. I don't grow my hoyas outside unfortunately. This spring/summer seemed so unusual to me. So much rain and wind. I have a large yard but not very many trees to hang plants from. I was going to put a shelf thing outside and sit my plants on that but my husband put a stop to that. He told me I had spent to much money on them to let nature (meaning wind/rain/animals etc) kill them. He said I'd be crying the blues if anything happened, and hate to admit it but he's right!

Cindy, I wish I had a setup like yours, you've got quite a nice collection of Hoyas.
I'll be bringing all my little Hoyas in from the greenhouse today. I only have minimal heat through the winter and don't want to take a chance.
I have one of those bakers racks, the top shelf is almost level with a window and I'm hoping that will do the job for me. The window faces south-east but I do have vertical blinds for sunny days. This will be my new cuttings first winter so hope I don't botch things up while learning their likes and dislikes.

A baker's rack sounds ideal. I'm sure you will do fine with your hoyas over the winter. I didn't seem to have many problems with mine last winter just the minimal growth that is expected.

I love seeing pictures of how others keep their hoyas!

    Looks good!

Thanks every one, I do enjoy having my hoyas close by but would like a green house. I hate moving the plants in and out in spring and fall. I always brake a vine or peduncle.

I would love to have a set up like yours my plants are all over the whole house My Hoyas are in the living room windows. I am unsure how things will go this winter with our new pellet stove. I have 2 grow lights so far. I am looking for a new orchid set up in the our dining room.

1hmkc, These T5 bulbs are great.Cheap to buy and cheap to run. What type of grow lights do you have?

    Cindy,
What is the wooden structure and how are the orchid pots hooked to it?

Kelly, Its an old ceder potting bench.I used close pins to hold the pots to the lattice. It takes two pins to hold them in place. My husband added wood on top to hold the grow light and a larger piece of wood on the bases to hold the new large heating mat.

    lhmkc,
We have a new pellet stove too. I am also curious to see how it will work with my hoyas.
