You are right about the chasing business....I have 3 feeders spread the distance of my house....and it's like the autobon....they are relentless too...I have 2 RT that have claimed one each of the feeders, the ones opposite each other at the far ends of the deck...they sit in nearby trees and just wait for someone to come along and the chase is on.

I wish I had a better camera, from where my computer is I have one guy who comes and sits on a wisteria outside the window, and he is only about 3 feet away from me, 2 if I get up next to the glass.

I saw him yesterday grooming himself...VERY cool, how he uses his little feet to reach the spots behind his head...kinda like a cat grooming himself. have you ever seen them stick out their tongues (assuming that is what I'm seeing)? now that would be a great photo too.

Amazing reach you have there gymell, and those photos are sharp as a tack! Good shooting.

Kenn - true, they do look like they could be the same bird. Your S3 certainly takes a nice shot! I've got a 30D for serious photography and an SD800 for everyday shots. I bought the 500mm for eagle photography, but I'm finding it's a lot of fun to use on these guys too!

I've admired your PBase gallery... very nice indeed.

I ordered a 58mm adapter for the S3 and am seriously considering a 1.7x Sony TC. I'm not too happy with the long end of the S3's built-in zoom (432mm)... too much fringing in high contrast shots. So I'm hoping a good quality TC may let me stay back a bit with the zoom lens and still extend my reach somewhat, without such loss of image quality.

I know this small sensor P&S can't match a dSLR with a good lens, but I keep trying to get the best from it.
