Hummingbird Garden

I live in north central florida...ocala...and want to attract hummingbirds...i am planting to attract them and have attracted lots of butterflies...however, i don't know if they are here all year or if they come back each year etc, etc....i had one that used to come and i kept a feeder (a red apple with 4 feeders) but it left early this year and i've seen no more......any help would be greatly appreciated...

some hummers do stay in Florida all year but some stay there during the winter months before heading back up north. You may be having some that spend the winter months with you. Be persistant and keep a feeder ready. It doesn't have to be filled all the way. Put just enough in there so that you can see that there is nectar and change it every 2-3 days or more often if your weather is extremely hot and humid. We have a few hummer people here from Florida so they can probably give you more info on when to start expecting them in your area.
