It's a beautiful little plant, I had it once...did not try to keep overwinter.
I haven't seen it offered locally since.

Robert, when you "overwinter in the basement", what do you do? Do you keep it under artificial lights or what?

My neighbor has some very large jasmines that she winters by just putting them in the lower level. Never worked for me, tho.

Dbarron, I've never seen them locally but fortunately you can get them online. Well worth it since the hummers adore it. :)

Mehitabel, I cut it way back (and root some of the cuttings) and grow them under shop lights in the basement keeping them lightly watered.
I've been keeping jasmines alive for years doing the same method. I bet you can do it. :)

Are yours using the feeder you put up as well as the plants?

This year has been fantastic! 3 chasing each other every day and some have finally found the feeder! Woo hoo! Though really I've got enough plants to keep hundreds happy. ;)

Glad you're having a wonderful year, Robert. I'll bet they think your place is heaven. Glad to hear they're using the feeders as well. Probably takes a bit less energy to stoke up at the feeders, I'd guess.

The books say you should multiply the number you see at once by 5 to get the number that are probably out there. Your place certainly looks like it could support 15!

I have three chasers, too. Seems to me they'd rather chase around than eat. :) Saw one that was feeding stop and take off chasing when another flew by around 10 feet away. Saw another come out of a tree 30 feet away to chase one that had just come out of it's own tree. Obviously sitting there like a little hawk waiting for some fun. Have also seen a third come out of the trees to join in when the other two are chasing.

Easy to imagine it's the kind of life exuberance that makes children run and jump on their way from the car to somewhere. I love it. Also love my little wire sitter who guards two of the feeders.

Last September I saw five at one time. Hoping to beat that this year.
