Finally......

I've finally managed to bloom one of my imperialis! Yay I'm so excited. I had 5 penduncles growing, but I think the couple cold nights we had caused most of the buds to drop. We were down in the low 40s for a couple nights.

But the first penduncle did hold and manage to go on and bloom. For those of you that have gotten cuttings from me, this is the imperialis I was calling #2. The imperialis #1 did have one penduncle with buds also, but those buds died with the cold too.

I received this plant as a small seedling, not a cutting, back in the spring of 2009, so I have waited 5 and a half years for this bloom. :)

I'm going to call it 'Pretty in Pink'.

And also my buotii continues to bloom even with the cold nights, but the flowers have a reddish tinge to them I find very nice. I'm guessing, like some other plants that the red pigment is due to the cooler weather - but that's not definite of course.

Hope those that celebrate it have a Happy Thanksgiving this week!

Renee
