I guess the question is what kind of feeders you have. With me its wasps and the only feeders they can get much sugar from is the tiny one port walmart feeders which will leak sugar water. But I continue to use those because the hummers like them so well.

I am plagued with yellow jackets mostly in late summer.I use three methods of deterring them.
1. hang a yellow jacket trap with old sugar water a few feet away from the feeders they are most attracted to

2. place a shallow open bowl of strong sugar water that they can access to their hearts delight

3. replace bottle style feeders for saucer style feeders if they becomes too annoying at the feeders

and if these three methods fail turn the hose on them and blast them away from the feeder.
