Don't worry, the dominate Male will leave soon, leaving plenty of room for the others to fatten up before they go!

It's just as aggravating when there's a dominant female, like I've had all season! She was guarding that feeder more than any other hummer I've had; one would try to sneak up behind her at the feeder (in my neighbors yard) and she'd dart off and give chase. I have 2 feeders, one on each side of the house, and plenty of plants all around. She'd chase any hummer that came onto my property! Eventually she'd let a tiny male in to feed, but wouldn't let any other females in for the longest time. They finally started using the 2nd feeder on the other side of the house, but the games still continue, with my whopping 3 that I've seen duking it out. I get sooooo jealous when I see pictures of many hummers using one or multiple feeders! I have yet to experience TWO feeding together!!!

We had to get a 4th feed. You just have to have so many feeders that it's impossible for one to horde them all.

I agree, the more feeders I put up, the less able any of them were to dominate any one of them. And the more I put up, the more Hummers I saw.

Putting up a total of eight feeders gave us about two months of amazing aerial shows on a daily basis. I was worth every pound of sugar!

Now that they are gradually moving on, the action is tapering of and we have reduced to six feeders. I'll probably put out more next year.

Humming Bird populations are under no threat so plenty of them make it back and forth for several years!!
