I had three at my feeder after a rainstorm today...and I am really new to Hummingbirds, but it was SOOO fascinating watching them fight.

And it does sound like THUNK!

Glo I experienced the same exact behavior days before mine left. I even had 2 that went beak to beak. I was afraid that they were going to stab one another.

Yep, I'm always afraid they're gonna get hurt fighting, but I guess they didn't do too much damage, cuz they were still here and at it first thing this morning! I keep telling them to share and I keep cleaning and refilling feeders. Wish they could understand me!

Glad you've found us! Welcome to the wonderful world of hummy babies! Hope you know they are very addictive! First it's a feeder, then it's several...then it's a couple of plants and then the whole garden, then the whole yard!!!

As my DH husband tells me (all summer long), you have created a monster! You can have your flower beds but please leave my lawn alone I have potted plants everywhere that aren't planted inground...including the driveway. I have one bed that is so overgrown with plants that they are growing up over around and through my park bench. I started with one feeder and now use 6-7. I dug a patio this summer for 2 reasons...so I can sit out and enjoy my hummers more and to create more planting space...all around the perimeter of the patio!...Yes it is most addictive!

Even my Fiance who admits he was very skeptical about the whole thing is fascinated by them!

These birds are so fascinating to me. I can't wait till I can see one in my garden. I'm new to hummingbird gardens, so I hope next year to add another feeder or 2 and more plants that they love.

Isn't it funny how we talk to them? I'm always saying "Hi" to the ones who zoom around the front feeder. sometimes they stop and come back and look. I remember reading fairy stories about how they would ride on the hummers backs.

lol, Minnie...I talk to mine every day. I'm sure my hubby thinks I'm crazy, but he's used to me by now. I only have 6 feeders out this year, which is 4 down from last year but I've also got tons more flowers this year. Penny, my dh keeps asking where I'm going to store some of these pots for the winter...I think my car is going to be really cold some mornings. Told Rick that when we buy our final house when he retires from the AF, it has to have a huge yard! No grass...just Scottish moss and stone/slate for paths, and flower beds and beds and beds!
