It's been a record hummer season for me, and though I still have alot of them, I've noticed the numbers decreasing this past week. While it's certainly not fall in my area, our mornings and evenings have been cool and daytime temps in the low to mid 80's...really nice! Since I live just 150 miles north of the Gulf coast (MS), many have moved on and new ones stopping by before their trek across the Gulf.

If you are referring to hummers, I'm not familiar with the migration process either. Many of us commented that our hummers seemed a little late in appearing this year. Usually, I will have just a few this time of year, and by mid Oct., they are gone!!!

I googled this question an hour ago and for me, it's most definite that most have migrated.

I miss them so much. So much so, I watched some videos on Youtube of those precious sweeties and (please don't laugh~~I'm a softy when it comes to nature) I had tears welling up my eyes as I watched. Last year I was too ill to even go out and watch so I never got attached to them. I know it sounds crazy but I've come to treasure them and must now wait a year to see them again~~~Okay more tears now.

I just wish they find lots of feeders and people who honestly care & appreciate them on their journey until they return.

I'll be waiting!

I'm in Jacksonville. I had 5-6 birds regularly feeding on a Firecracker plant (Russelia equisetiformis) by my mailbox until recently.
The past week has been sparse with regards to sightings. I was thinking that the gang has moved south for the winter.

Hi Phoxmom, I live just NW of you near Cartersvill,GA. I still have quite a few hummers this morning. I bet you will see a few more.

I maintain a feeder thoughout the winter. I have a friend who had a Black Chin show-up at her feeder a couple of years ago in NOV! Then in JAN an Allen showed up! Both hummers hung around for two more weeks before moving on. My friend lives just a few miles from me. How cool it would be to see these hummers in winter!!!

I also have increased the sugar to 1/3 cup for every cup of water. This helps them fatten up for their long trip.
