Hummingbird Garden

mites, lice?? (pics)

My resident males left a while ago, but I finally got back some pictures. One of them kept itching all summer, and in the photos, you can clearly see some damage along his back. What do you think may have caused this?

I have no idea, but was going to ask basically this same question. Can they get mites or lice?

My female sits and preens longer than I have ever seen one do and I started wondering today if she was acutally itching?

Yes they do get mites or lice just like all birds.
