Meeting in Central Florida

A bunch of us hummingbird and butterfly enthusiasts are meeting Saturday, September 23, from 10AM till noon at Biosphere nursery in Winter Garden. The nursery is about five miles due west of Orlando.

The owner, Jim Thomas, is an expert on plants that attract butterflies and hummers. He is offering a discount that day and promises to have a lot of plants on hand. We will be sharing cuttings, small plants, caterpillars and stories.

Please join us if you can. I am inviting people over to my garden afterwards for a cuttings party.

It would be great to see you again, Lee. Still got any hummers? Mine seem to have left. It's been four days or so since I've seen one and I've been looking pretty hard.

Yes I still have at least 2 that I'm aware of.
I wouldn't count them out as leaving your area yet. Remember last year I spotted one in the 2nd week of December ! I think you even mentioned it may have been a Rufous, but I couldn't tell and ALL hummers are welcome anyway right !
I hope to be able to see everyone again at Biosphere.
I'll e-mail you when I find out one way or the other.

Lee, just after I posted the last message I saw a hummer on my Firespike. So, at least one is still here.

I hope to see you on Saturday and I hope there are others who might want to come to Winter Garden and talk about hummingbirds and share some plants that attract them.
