I am wondering if this plant would be an annual for you. I believe this plant's common name is cigar plant or candy corn plant. I have grown this plant for at least 4 years. This year mine are at least 5ft tall and just as wide. I have not fertilized them or given them any care except water.

The candy corn plant's flowers are similar to my cigar plants but still different. My cuphea is actually david verity. What to expect Im not sure, I have not been able to winter over on these as of yet. Last winter I did winter over cuphea shumannii though. But to overwinter them in a pot it changes the plant. At least for what I did with mine. I put mine in the ground and it had to re-establish itself as it was late blooming. But I will try again to overwinter.

I am fortunate that my cupheas overwinter well here. I have David 'verity' and a cuphea micropetala planted side by side. David is the delicate one of the two. I will be trying the shumannii next year.
