Yes, I'm still seeing one most days. Now that the pineapple sage is going full blast I usually see them there. My fear is if they hang around much longer and the general area gets a heavy frost these birds may not be able to migrate at all. I know many if not most die on their first trip south, but I rather it not be on my doorstep. Speaking of doorstep. A dazed immature Cape May Warbler was sitting on the sidewalk outside the office about an hour ago - must have hit a window. I placed it on a lilac branch hoping it would recover, and when I checked a few minutes ago it was gone. The species has become extremely uncommon if not rare in the past decade, another spruce budworm specialist in trouble.

I feel the same way, Ward. I don't want to harm them, but since they are still coming thru, I'm very happy that I can help them on their way. Hopefully they are smarter than me and know when to get out of the area before any really bad stuff hits and are stronger and healthier for the trip due to my flowers.

I'm so glad you were able to get that little warbler to safety until it could fly on its own!

I am sure they know when to go. I sighted one last week weds. and that was the last time. Sure enough we got frost the first part of this week. I was worried too but now i'm convinced that they know what they are doing.

I haven't seen any of mine for days now. It is so lonely on the porches now!!

Waiting for the weather to break. We've been under a northeaster for a week or so and hummingbirds can't move. There's been at least one R-T hanging around visiting all the sages, especially coccinea and pineapple. I hope that once the weather clears the bird will depart, althought that might take a couple of days as the bird may be burning up its fat reserves on the thee cool and rainy nights.

My last Migrant left on Oct 10th. She had been here since the 28th of Sept. because of the mild weather and all the salvias including lady in red and the agastaches that I planted, she still had plenty of natural nectar while she was here. The last 3 days of her stay she stricktly used the feeders so I knew she was heading out soon.

So here it is Oct. 19th and my garden is still blooming. The honeysuckle has just about finished and the hyacinth bean and scarlet runner bean and other annual vines have finished but the salvias are still going strong and making quite an impressive show. I think next year it will be mostly salvias and agastaches in my garden.
