Would suggest using a trellis of wood lattice or wire mesh, attached to wall with standoff's a few inches wide. I have one on a wooden trellis, mounted about 2 inches from a brick wall. As the CH grew, many of the limbs spread out and became attached to the mortar between the bricks. After several years, the limbs and their leaves became so heavy that the tendrils could not support them and they detached from the brick wall.
