Impatiens ugenensis is very closely related to I. sodenii. If you got this at the strybing it maybe I. ugenensis X which is a hybrid of the two I did last year. Most were very pale lavender with the spot in the center. Only one of the seedlings came out the way I wanted lavender with the magenta spot. This maybe one of the others that were sold.

Thank you Derick, now that you mentioned it I do believe that there is an X on that name. The pot is so buried by other pots right now that I did not get a clear look at the name written on the side, but I do seem to remember that X. I have another one of your seedlings (marked uguenensis X) that has produced a flower that has more of the magenta markings in the center and the flower is pinker - and not as large as the one in the photo. I was curious about the difference between the two when they bloomed last summer.

You know I do believe that I have some seedlings in the greenhouse from this one. It will be interesting to see what it produces - especially since all of my Impatiens are in the same general area and I have LOTS of bees that adore these especially grandulifera - I swear they roll around inside the "helmets" and come out another shade of pollen yellow.
