Hank if you are talking about purple cone flowers your seeds are attached to that little cone. There are no seeds inside.

The seeds are sort of in between those prickles. Did you already throw them away? Sort through them and see if you can find any seeds shaped like the ones below. Sometimes the birds pick them out so there might not have been any.
