Impatiens balfourii

Mr. Impatiens gave me these seeds last fall. I'll have seeds to share this fall. A pretty and easy flower to start and tend. Cut them down if they get too big, and they will send out a new flush of flowers.

A very useful self-sowing annual species impatiens. Small purple & white orchid flowers appear to hang in midair above foliage. Mine grew 3' tall and very bushy, then fell over in the rain. I cut them back severely and they came back strong.

I have some of those in my garden for couple of years already! They really do self-sow and look very pretty and delicate! I always want to collect those seeds, but always a step too late!

My sister just sent some seeds from her balfouri. She's in Berkeley and the deer there don't touch them. Anyone have any experience with impatiens balfouri in the Catskill area?
