Impatiens cristata

My kids really love this species because it has very large spring-loaded seed pods to pop. My six-year-old calls them "pop-its flowers". The flowers bloom in pairs held under the cover of the upper leaves, so you have to get close to appreciate the plant. Foliage and darkly freckled stems are exotic and tropical. Very easy to grow. I'll have some to share come fall.
