Hey Dakster quit gloating aobut being in Barbados especially this time of year...shame on you! Now for your hummer....I think it is a green violet ear hummer. You may want to post the picture over at Bob in Ky's for a positive ID.

HAHAHA- yeah I went to Hummer 54 and they all said Greater Antillian Crested- I am hard pressed to find a crest- seeing I did see another one like this who was perched and feeding and I was above the bird. But hey, they are the experts not me so I'm taking it. Oh and let me confess one thing to you penny- I didn't bring a FEEDER with me- how friggin' STOOPID am I? I had the best set uo there tioo- a balcony that I could have hung it off of. I thought I was too far east for them- never agin will I forget!

Sorry but you all are wrong. The green violet hear is not register for the caribean islands.
The Antillian crested has not iridiscens plumage from the head to the base of the tail, and it has a short bill not long as we see in the photo, and its smaller than the one on the photo.
This one is the Green throated Carib. (Eulampis holosericeus)

I think you are right. Although I was never able to see him head on to really take a look at his breast- I will agree with you. All signs point to the GTC- there is a website too that I found that shows him off very well indeed. The last pic especially shows him off exactly how I saw him a few other times- nevber did get a great view of his breast though.. :_(
