I had planted a rooted stick of Harry Lauder's Walking Stick from a cheap catalog. It got leaves, but then a bunny nipped it off at the level of the ground. It did not make it. But if there are any buds on yours, it may survive. I would cage it to keep the dogs away from it, and carefully prune off any damaged wood to prevent infections. Leave as much as possible. Good luck!
