There are Robins year-round in Des Moines now. I see them in flocks eating the berries off the trees near my workplace all winter long. I suppose there are enough warm places & flowing water in the "Big City" to encourage them to just stick around.
I still can't wait to hear their cheery morning & late evening songs, though!

Had them here by the MN border since last Saturday (Feb 19) that I know of. That was the first one I saw drinking from my heated water supply. A little earlier than usual.

I saw one in Springdale a few weeks ago taking a bath in a puddle by the road. I always wait for the red winged blackbirds. When you see them sitting on fencepost you know spring is here for sure.

On my way home from work yesterday I saw red-winged blackbirds sitting on fenceposts. They seem to be here several weeks early this year. They're a sure sign of spring so I'm getting itchy fingers now.
