Too hot!

We've just had one really hot day when I was away and could not water my impatiens. It was only a few hours but it seems the damage has been done. 2 of 3 of the main stems has wilted. I have been keeping it indoors out of direct sunlight and it seemed to be thriving before.

Should I remove the wilted stems? Is it possible to put these in water? how long would it take for these to grow enough roots to be planted? I haven't had it for very long, so I'm not sure of the type - possibly New Guinea.

I'm brand-new to this so any information would be greatly appeciated. Thanks!
