I have several hydrangea bushes around my deck. They were planted by the previous owner and I don't know their variety (I have not seen them bloom yet). However due to poor landscape mulching (i.e. they didn't do it in years) I'm getting many shoots off the roots of these hydrangeas. I keep pulling them off but they keep coming back. I plan to re mulch. Will this solve the problem of hydrangea creep-age? Otherwise the bushes seem quite healthy and vigorous.
