Really the best way is to divide the tubers. They are very easy to break up. I had three one gallon containers and I was able to get about 30 plants out of them. I have some times found that they will form tubers on the side of the stems. When the stems die down these little spuds would sprout and make new plants.

Thanks, plan on doing that as well but wanted to take a few cuttings and have, but this species seems more difficult than I. tinctoria to root. Did you divide the tubers once the plants went dormant? Is I. tinctoria as easy to divide? I have a 10 gal pot of it. I have about 20 tubers in gal pots and took about 100 cuttings so if you know anyone who wants the plant for trade etc. please let them know. Thanks

I hear you can do the same with tinctoria but I just take cuttings. For flanaganae I wait till the plant has gone dormant its much easier that way.
