Which ends up?

I bought some Calla lily tubulars (Zantedeschia) and I can't tell one end from the other. I want to plant them in the house now to give them a good start. I've looked in a dozen books. They tell how it plant them,but.....there isn't a sign of root or stem. HELP

You'll see little growth points on top, and the bottom is smooth and rounded... or, you could just put it in sideways and hope for the best!
